Beginning Instructor– Madeline MacNeil
We'll start at the beginning, building your comfort with the dulcimer: holding it, strumming it, and moving your fingers along the fretboard. Our rewards will include familiar (and less familiar) tunes to play along with simple ways of backing up some well-known songs.
We’ll learn a few chords and work on rhythm, learning how and when to strum using some traditional, gospel, hymn and fiddle pieces.
We will learn to play fingerstyle folk melodies from England, Ireland and Scotland in Ionian tuning, arranged as airs - holistic approach from playing techniques to arrangement matters. Dan will have fresh material from the last time he visited us.
